New Brooklyn Leadership
ARTICLE I - NAME
The name of this organization shall be "New Brooklyn Leadership".
SECTION 1. MISSION.
New Brooklyn Leadership is a multi-partisan, political organization of Brooklyn residents and
their friends who collectively are committed to educating and raising the awareness of community
members and leaders regarding issues of importance to our neighborhoods, and who are
committed to empowering people through grassroots organizing and the acquisition of political
power in pursuit of a progressive policy and political agenda reflective of the diversity of our
community.
SECTION 2. PURPOSE.
The organization will work to:
--Encourage political and civic participation by individuals at the local, state and national levels
--Develop and strategically support leaders who support NBL’s mission in the political, public, non-profit and private sectors
--Evaluate pending legislation, policy initiatives or private initiatives and, if appropriate, advise residents of the organization’s cachement area of it’s recommendations through the adoption of official positions, the dissemination of materials, and the generation of activities on behalf of these positions
--Advocate for legislation consistent with NBL's mission
--Build coalitions with other organizations whose operations and general intentions are
compatible with the organization's mission
