JOE PRESSLEY
Joe Pressley, NYAC’s Executive Director has a life long commitment to working for positive social change and the betterment of New York’s oppressed and disenfranchised individuals. Prior to his current position at NYAC, Joe was Director of Public Policy. Previously, Joe was employed for two years as Director of Outreach, Education and Prevention at Harlem United Community AIDS Center. He worked as a Policy Associate at Gay Men’s Health Crisis with a focus on housing, substance use and prison-related issues. Prior to this, Joe was NYAC’s Director of Community Organizing. During those four years at NYAC he trained scores of New Yorkers across New York City and State about the political process and identified the service needs of New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS. He is the former Community Co-Chair of the New York City Prevention Planning Group, a sixty-member body of government representatives; people living with HIV, HIV Prevention providers and other professionals concerned about the provision of quality prevention services to New Yorkers. Joe currently serves on the New York State AIDS Advisory Council and the New York City HIV Planning Council. He is also the co-President of the OUT People of Color Political Action Club, which is a collective of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of color.
